UAMS Health Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine to present three-day state championship in Fort Smith
FORT SMITH, Ark. (Aug. 13, 2026) — The Arkansas State Golf Association will bring one of its premier championships to Fort Smith this September as Hardscrabble Country Club hosts the 2026 ASGA Men’s Senior Amateur Championship, presented by UAMS Health Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, Sept. 18-20.
The three-day championship will welcome many of the state’s top senior amateur golfers to one of Arkansas’ most historic golf venues, with competitors playing 54 holes of stroke play to determine champions across three age divisions.
Competition will be divided into the Senior Division for players age 50 and older, Super- Senior Division for players age 60 and older, and Legends Division for players age 70 and older. Players will compete over 18 holes each day beginning Friday, Sept. 18, with champions
crowned following the final round Sunday, Sept. 20.
“Hardscrabble Country Club has a tremendous history within golf in Arkansas, and we are excited to bring the Men’s Senior Amateur Championship back to Fort Smith,” said Carson Roberts, Executive Director of the Arkansas State Golf Association. “This championship consistently brings together an outstanding group of players from across the state, and we look forward to a great three days of competition at Hardscrabble.”
The championship is open to male amateur golfers who are individual members of the Arkansas State Golf Association and meet the applicable age requirements. Competitors must be Arkansas residents, with an exception for Texarkana, Texas, residents who are members of Texarkana Country Club or otherwise meet ASGA individual membership requirements.
In addition to competing for an ASGA state championship, approximately 30 percent of the field will earn Hardscrabble Country Club golf shop credit based on finishing position. The event also provides an opportunity to showcase Fort Smith and the surrounding community to competitors, families, and golf supporters traveling from throughout Arkansas.
The championship is presented by UAMS Health Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, whose support helps the ASGA continue providing championship opportunities for amateur golfers across the state.
Registration for the championship is still open, and interested players are urged to register early as the field is limited. Registration will remain open until 4 p.m. Sept. 14 or until the field reaches capacity.
Competitors will also have access to one practice round during the week preceding the championship. Practice-round tee times may be arranged through the Hardscrabble Country Club golf shop at (479) 782-7211.
