The Fort Smith Regional Art Museum (RAM) is thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of two captivating new exhibitions: Journey to the Unknown by Oluwatobi Adewumi and Kaleidoscope featuring works by the late Liz Whitney Quisgard. These exhibitions will be on display from September 13, 2025, to January 11, 2026, with a special reception on Friday, September 12, from 5 to 7 PM.

In the exhibit, Journey to the Unknown, artist Oluwatobi Adewumi (Winner of the 2024 RAM Annual Invitational) delves into the themes of identity, culture, and migration. Originally from Nigeria and now residing in McNeil, Arkansas, Adewumi uses multimedia drawings to explore his personal journey of assimilation, while honoring his African heritage. His mixed media drawings highlight the resilience of immigrants, reflecting their histories and struggles, and fostering discussions about displacement and the search for home. This thought-provoking exhibit is generously sponsored by Merrill Lynch – Lawson Hembree Group and the Dr. Henry J. Udouj, Jr. Family.

Transitioning from the contemporary exploration of identity, viewers can immerse themselves in Kaleidoscope, which showcases the vibrant, decorative fabricworks of Liz Whitney Quisgard (1929-2024). Known for her kaleidoscopic patterns inspired by Classical and Byzantine architecture, Quisgard’s artistic journey began in Philadelphia and flourished into a prolific career that included multiple degrees and a studio in Lower Manhattan. Her works, created from yarn and buckram, were generously donated by the artist and engage viewers with their dynamic and intricate designs. This vibrant exhibition is proudly sponsored by Uncork’d & David & Delli Tyler.

RAM invites art enthusiasts and the community to join us for the opening reception on September 12, from 5-7 PM, to celebrate these extraordinary artists and their contributions to contemporary and decorative art. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience these thought-provoking and visually stunning exhibitions! Reception is free with light refreshments provided. After opening night, these exhibitions will be on view through January 11.
